Sadly, Dr. Lawrence Anderson Stone passed away on February 28, 2024 at age 90 peacefully, leaving behind his wife (the love of his life) Marnette Stone, a huge family including his daughters and sons and their families, 12 grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, countless friends and colleagues. He was loved and respected dearly, and he made it so easy to do so. Larry – as most of us fondly remember him - was born in the summer of 1933 in Robstown, Texas to Belo and Sarah Stone. With the passing of David Shaffer, FRCP, FRCPsych, child psychiatry lost one of our most creative forces and influential leaders. David died on October 15, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. This individual-participant-data (IPD) meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) aimed to provide robust estimates of therapeutic intervention effects and explore which treatments are best suited to different subgroups. [...]
Exposure to extreme temperatures has been linked to acute mental-health events in young populations, but the underlying neural mechanisms are not well understood. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging allows for the assessment of connectivity patterns in brain functional networks, which have been associated with mental-health disorders. We investigated the short-term effects of ambient temperature on functional connectivity of brain resting-state networks in preadolescents. [...]
