This research line is interested in debating knowledge in a broad sense. It addresses issues related to the sociology of knowledge, the sociology of science, and the sociology of sociology. It encompasses various topics such as the epistemological perspectives of social theories; critical questioning of the relationship between knowledge and society; scientific production both within and across disciplines; science as a social space autonomous in relation to other spheres; Brazilian sociology and other national sociologies. It also discusses the relevance of new and old categories of knowledge for understanding society, such as class, race, ethnicity, gender, etc.
