Admission Process PhD – 2025
The Graduate Program in Sociology (PPGS) at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel) will open applications on Monday, January 20, 2025, for the 2025 PhD in Sociology selection process.

Who can apply?
Applications are open to:
- Holders of a Master’s degree (Stricto Sensu), Brazilian or foreign nationals of any nationality.
- Candidates with a proof of expected completion of a Master’s degree, signed by the coordinator of the originating program, indicating the projected completion date.
Important: Failure to present the Master’s diploma or equivalent document at the time of enrollment will prevent admission to the program.

Application period: From January 20 to February 12, 2025, until 6 p.m. (Brasília time).

Required documents:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s Diplomas (or proof of expected completion).
- Master’s program Academic Transcript.
- Copies of personal documentation (RG, CPF, Voter Registration Card, Military Service Certificate – for Brazilians – or valid passport for foreigners).
- Research Project with the structure and formatting specified in the Call for Applications.
- Complete Lattes CV in a single PDF file.
- Proof of payment of the application fee (R$ 150.00) or documentation for fee waiver.
Selection Process Stages
The process will be carried out in three phases, all online:

Research Project Evaluation (Phase 1 – eliminatory and classificatory):
Period: February 13 to 17, 2025.
Results: February 17, 2025 (after 6 p.m.).

Research Project Defense (Phase 2 – remote):
Period: February 21 and 22, 2025.
Results: February 22, 2025 (after 8 p.m.).

Lattes CV Evaluation (Phase 3 – classificatory):
Date: February 26, 2025.
Results: February 26, 2025 (after 6 p.m.).
Preliminary Final Results: February 27, 2025 (after 6 p.m.).
Final Results: March 3, 2025.
Available Positions
The Call for Applications provides a total of 10 positions, distributed as follows:
- Open category: 5 positions.
- Affirmative action:
- 3 positions for Black, Quilombola, Indigenous, or Disabled people.
- 1 position for transvestite or transgender people.
- 1 position for UFPel staff members.
