Laboratory of Pharmacology and Metabolism

The laboratory is located in building 26 of the Institute of Biology on the Capão do Leão Campus of UFPel. It is coordinated by Professor Jucimara Baldissarelli. The research group evaluates the pharmacological and/or toxicological potential of natural and synthetic compounds in experimental models of chronic diseases, such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and diabetes, as well as the influence of diet on biochemical and oxidative parameters.

In this context, the laboratory conducts activities related to the investigation of biochemical, inflammatory, and behavioral markers, as well as cholinergic and purinergic systems, using in vitro models and preclinical studies. The laboratory is equipped with a UV spectrophotometer, refrigerated benchtop centrifuges, water bath, pH meter, magnetic stirrer, analytical balance, refrigerator, freezer, and computer.
