Laboratory of Biomarkers
The biomarkers laboratory is located in building 29 at the CCQFA, Capão do Leão Campus, UFPel, and is coordinated by Professor Francieli Stefanello. The biomarkers laboratory researchers evaluate the antioxidant activity of natural and synthetic compounds in experimental models with the objective of discovering new therapeutic agents that may be useful in the treatment of diseases where there is participation of oxidative stress. In addition, another line of research of the laboratory is the evaluation of biochemical changes that occur in metabolic diseases.
Infrastructure and Equipment: This laboratory has a large air-conditioned room where the following equipment is allocated: UV-VIS spectrophotometer, benchtop centrifuge, water bath, pH meter, analytical balance, magnetic stirrer, refrigerator and computers. It also has a physically insulated room that houses a laminar flow hood for performing sterile techniques such as cell culture.
