China – 2025
From May 5 to 15, 2025, Professor Márcia Mesko conducted a technical-scientific visit at Shantou University, in Shantou, China, where she also delivered the lecture titled “Preparation Strategies for Determination of Non-metals and Their Species by Mass Spectrometry Techniques.” The presentation covered the latest work developed by her research group at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel). During this period, Professor Márcia also participated in the Symposium of Sonochemistry and Colloid Materials (SSCM2025) held at Shandong University, where she gave the lecture “Ultrasound-assisted Strategies for Sustainable Production of Value-added Compounds and Enhancing Properties of Germinated Rice.” This was the third time Professor Márcia visited China, further strengthening and expanding international collaborations while sharing scientific advances achieved through her research at UFPel.
Austria and Portugal – 2024
In October 2024, Professors Cristiani Folharini Bortolatto, Ethel Antunes Wilhelm, Márcia Foster Mesko, and Roselia Maria Spanevello undertook work missions in Austria and Portugal through the CAPES/PrInt-UFPel Program. These missions included lectures, meetings, and guided technical visits aimed at fostering relationships with research groups coordinated by Dr. Cláudia Valente and Dr. Ana Sebastião (Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Lisbon) and Dr. Manuel A. Coimbra (Department of Chemistry, University of Aveiro) in Portugal, as well as with Dr. Helmar Wiltscher (Institute of Analytical Chemistry and Food Chemistry, Graz University of Technology), Dr. Jörg Feldmann (TESLA – Analytical Chemistry, University of Graz), and Dr. Thomas Probaska (Institute of Analytical Chemistry, Montanuniversität Leoben) in Austria. The missions contributed to expanding international research networks, knowledge exchange, and experiences, while also enhancing academic production quality and fostering academic mobility.
France – 2023
In June 2023, Professor Cláudio Pereira conducted a work mission at the University of Poitiers, France, through the CAPES-COFECUB program. The mission involved technical visits, presentation of results, and scientific discussions at the Institute of Chemistry of Poitiers with the research group coordinated by Dr. Catherine Especel.
United States – 2023
In September 2023, Professor Vinicius Campos conducted a work mission at the University of California Davis (UCD) and the University of Los Angeles (UCLA), United States, through the CAPES/PrInt-UFPel Program. At UCD, activities were carried out at the Davis and Sacramento campuses. In Sacramento, Professor Vinicius held meetings with Professor Ai Ming Yu and delivered a lecture on microRNA-based technologies. At the Davis campus, meetings were held with Professors Andrea Schreier and Melinda Baerwald regarding the use of genome editing techniques for identifying aquatic species. In Los Angeles, meetings were held with Professor Paul Barber on the application of environmental DNA for species identification.
United States – 2022
In June 2022, Professor Augusto Schneider conducted a work mission at the University of Central Florida. The mission involved establishing collaboration goals with researcher Dr. Michal Masternak, including data discussions and project development for submission to an American government funding agency.
Denmark – 2022
In September 2022, Professor César Bruning conducted a mission at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, through the CAPES PrInt/UFPel program. During the mission, a technical visit was carried out at the laboratory of Professor Michael Davies, a renowned scientist in the field of oxidative stress. This mission was pivotal for advancing the studies on the topic conducted by PPGBBio, strengthening international collaboration, and expanding academic mobility opportunities for program students.
Mexico – 2021
In November 2021, Professor Rafael Lund conducted a work mission through the CAPES PrInt/UFPel program at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH) in Mexico. Partnerships were established with Dr. Carlos Enrique Suárez (dentistry) and Dr. Javier Castro Rosas (chemistry), both researchers at UAEH in Pachuca. The mission also expanded collaborations with other researchers, such as Professor Javier Piloni Martini (veterinary medicine), at UAEH’s Tulancingo campus. Additionally, the mission included a technical visit to the Universidad Politécnica de Pachuca (UPP), where a partnership agreement between UFPel and UPP was formalized.
France – 2021
In December 2021, Professors Ethel Antunes Wilhelm and Márcia Foster Mesko conducted a work mission through the CAPES PrInt/UFPel program at the University of Pau, France. During the mission, they performed technical visits with the research group of the Institute of Analytical Sciences and Physico-Chemistry for Environment and Materials (IPREM), coordinated by researchers Joanna Szpunar and Ryszard Lobinski. This mission strengthened scientific cooperation between the institutions, enabling knowledge exchange in advanced chemical analysis. Interaction with IPREM’s research group contributed to developing new methodological approaches, joint projects, and academic mobility opportunities for PPGBBio faculty and students.
