What is a thesis?
The thesis is an academic work that constitutes one of the fundamental requirements for completing the program and obtaining the Diploma. It represents the result of a scientific investigation carried out during the master’s degree program and aims to introduce the student in the field of scientific academic research.
What is the deadline to defend my thesis?
The regulatory deadline is in 24 months.
Can I request a deadline extension to defend my thesis? In what cases?
Yes. The deadline extension is subject to exceptional circumstances, as in cases of serious and long illness, for example. Mostly, computer failure or data loss by the crash of the HD, work commitments made by the student, difficulty in reconciling work and study, etc. are not considered exceptional circumstances.
What is the maximum extension period?
The Academic and Administrative Committee can grant up to 6 months, depending on the justification and the circumstance.
What degree should I get after defending the thesis?
The diploma provided by UFPel will include the degree of “MA in Territorial Development and Agrobusiness Systems.”
Do I get the diploma just by defending the thesis?
No. It is necessary to obey the minimum and maximum stay periods; you must have fulfilled all regulatory credits; must have an Performance Evaluation Index (PEI) equal to or greater than 3.0; must prove proficiency in the English language; must have prepared and submitted a scientific article in a journal of stratum B2 or higher, according to the Qualis classification system of CAPES for the Administration area; and, certainly, you must have your dissertation approved by the examination board.
