The Graduate Program in Physics at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for a Visiting Professor position (national or international), under the simplified selection process established by Call CAP No. 18/2025.
The position is open to researchers holding a Ph.D. in Physics or related fields, with proven academic and research experience in one of the following areas: Theoretical or Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Theoretical or Experimental Statistical Physics, Theoretical or Experimental Particle and Hadron Physics, or Theoretical or Experimental Plasma Physics.
The position offers a full-time contract (40 hours/week) with exclusive dedication. For foreign candidates, the initial contract may last up to 24 months, with the possibility of renewal for an equal period. The gross monthly salary is BRL 24,802.62 (equivalent to Class D, Level 1 on the Brazilian federal pay scale), which includes the base salary and a doctoral degree bonus. Please note that this amount is before taxes, and deductions will apply according to Brazilian legislation.

The selection process consists of two stages: an initial evaluation of academic qualification based on the criteria used by Brazil’s National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), followed by a detailed assessment of the candidate’s academic output from the past five years. The selected candidate will contribute to the consolidation and internationalization of our graduate program and is expected to foster collaborations at both national and international levels.
