Laboratory of Chemistry Applied to Bioactives (LaQuiABio)
Area: 100 m2
LaQuiABio is located in room 410 of building 32 of the CCQFA, located on the Capão do Leão Campus of UFPel, and is coordinated by professors Wilson Cunico and Geonir Machado Siqueira. The research group develops organic synthesis studies applied to bioactive substances. The developed projects aim to obtain chemical substances, via organic synthesis, with possible therapeutic properties which are later tested by other PPGBBio professors in experimental models.
Infrastructure and equipment: The laboratory has three distinct sections: a) Student room; b) Room for handling toxic and irritating products and; c) Laboratory of activities. a) The student room is air conditioned and equipped with three computers and a multifunctional printer. In addition, it has space for a table that holds personal notebooks and a cabinet with individual doors. b) The room for handling toxic and irritant products is air-conditioned and equipped with a rotary evaporator, a vacuum pump, a water circulator, two refrigerators, two fixed exhaust hoods and an exhaust. c) The activities laboratory is acclimatized by a split and equipped with a rotary evaporator, a vacuum pump, a high vacuum pump, three exhaust hoods, an exhaust fan, a greenhouse, a chromatographic cabinet, a water still, a melting point apparatus, two analytical balances, two heating mantles and ten heating and stirring plates. In addition, the laboratory has an ultrasound device equipped with an anti-noise protection connected to a 1.4 Kva UPS and a reactor with microwave heating with a computer coupled to an exhaust hood connected to a UPS. 5 kVA break. All other equipment present in the laboratory is connected to 0.5 to 1 kVA stabilizers.
