The research line of Parallel and Distributed Processing has as research object the computer systems designed for parallel or distributed processing. Research efforts focus on the development of execution environments and programming languages as well as interfaces for such environments. In this context, the topics addressed are linked to the use of special architectures, high-performance processing, execution environments, programming languages and mobile and ubiquitous computing, considering the infrastructure provided by the Internet of Things.
The line also develops applied research, addressing real problems in solutions involving the use of parallel and/or distributed systems, in addition to issues related to sustainable computing by saving energy in the processing through the use of parallel hardware.
