Hub Innovat B3

Hub Innovat B3 is a research laboratory of the Graduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering (PPGCEM) at the Federal University of Pelotas, led by Professor Claudio Martin Pereira de Pereira (Lattes). The laboratory focuses on developing innovative and sustainable solutions in forensic chemistry, biotechnology, and materials science, contributing to scientific and technological advancements aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Research Lines:

  1. Forensic Developers and Markers:
    Synthesis or extraction of molecules, such as chalcones, pyrazoles, thiazoles, hydrazones, pyrimidinones, carbazones, curcumins, and other derivatives, for application as forensic developers and markers. This line contributes to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by developing innovative technologies for forensic applications.
  2. Use of Lipids from Sub-Antarctic Chilean Macroalgae:
    Study and application of lipids derived from macroalgae for characterization and evaluation of antitumor properties. This research aligns with SDG 14: Life Below Water, by exploring marine resources sustainably, and SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by seeking solutions for medical treatments.
  3. Antarctic Macroalgae: Application of Gas Chromatography:
    Quantification of fatty acids and characterization of sterols present in Antarctic macroalgae using gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. The research evaluates the influence of environmental factors, such as temperature, on the lipid composition of macroalgae. This line aligns with SDG 13: Climate Action, by studying organisms in extreme conditions and their adaptations.
  4. Supplements and Bioproducts Derived from Alternative Sources for Animal Welfare:
    Development of innovative supplements and bioproducts, with evaluation of microbiological, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and toxicological properties. This line contributes to SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, by promoting the sustainable use of natural resources, and SDG 15: Life on Land, by seeking solutions for animal welfare.
  5. Synthesis and Biotechnological Evaluation of Carbonyl Derivatives:
    Synthesis and evaluation of carbonyl derivatives with potential bioactivity, including antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiparasitic, antitumor, and insecticidal activities. This research aligns with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by seeking new compounds for medical and pharmaceutical applications, and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by fostering technological innovations.
