Maria Otília Farias Lopes de Moura

PhD Student in Biotechnology at the Structural Genomics Laboratory

PhD candidate in Biotechnology at UFPel (2025/2). Master of Science in Animal Biodiversity from UFPel (2025). Postgraduate degree in INSTITUTIONAL AND CLINICAL PSYCHOPEDAGOGY (2024). Postgraduate degree (Lato Sensu) in RELIGIOUS EDUCATION TEACHING from Faculdade dos Vales (2025). Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences - Licentiate and Bachelor's, from the Federal University of Pelotas (2022). She worked as a scholarship recipient in the Institutional Scholarship Program for Teaching Initiation (PIBID) from 2015 to 2018. She actively participated in the project "Parasitic Zoonoses in Schools: The Role of the Veterinarian as a Knowledge Multiplier" (2018 to 2020), developed by LADOPAR, which provided students and educators with greater knowledge about these important diseases, enabling them to implement control and prevention measures in the school environment and also within their community.

She was an intern and collaborator at the Laboratory of Morphology and Parasitology of Wild Animals - IB, where she developed her Final Course Project in Parasitology in Birds of Prey, in addition to the work presented at the 3rd and 5th weeks of SIIEPE at the CIC - Scientific Initiation Congress - and the XXVII ENPÓS, developed by UFPel. She worked on the research project INVESTIGATION OF HELMINTHS IN BIRDS OF PREY IN SOUTHERN RIO GRANDE DO SUL, BRAZIL, where she participated in research encompassing knowledge of the parasitic fauna of birds of prey, as well as important information regarding their feeding biology, behavior, and indicators of factors that can affect these species. She participated in the extension project Itinerant Museum of Parasitology: experiencing the knowledge of learning (2019-2020), where she taught in different municipal public schools in Pelotas, bringing to students of the basic education network information about the main parasites of importance in public health. Recently, she worked as a Census Taker in the 2020 IBGE CENSUS research (2022), which she also carried out in 2010. In her master's degree, she actively participated in the project Helminthic communities and ecology of parasitism in birds of prey in southern Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in which she developed her research. Currently, she participates in the INCLUSIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM, working in the ADVANCED TRAINING COURSES in SPECIALIZED EDUCATIONAL SERVICES AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR LEARNING MEDIATION (since 2022) and Advanced Training in Specialized Educational Services and Technologies for Learning Mediation (2023), offered by the Federal University of Pelotas in the distance learning modality (EAD), as a course tutor. Finally, since 2024 she has worked in the municipal education network of the city of Canguçu, as a Science teacher for the final years of Elementary School.
