Amanda Weege da Silveira Martins
Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology and a Master’s and PhD in Sciences from the Graduate Program in Biotechnology at the Federal University of Pelotas (PPGBiotec-UFPel, CAPES Excellence Level 7), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Vinicius Farias Campos. She is co-founder and CEO of TetiZ, a Brazilian deep-tech company dedicated to the development of advanced genetically edited zebrafish models for applications in biomedical, pharmacological, toxicological, and environmental research. Her research background includes environmental biotechnology, epigenetics, and animal genetic improvement, with emphasis on gene expression, microRNA regulation, and applied molecular biology. During her PhD, she completed a sandwich research internship at the University of California, Davis (Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine) through the CAPES/PrInt Program, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Aiming Yu, focusing on therapies based on non-coding RNAs. She has experience in molecular biology techniques, gene editing, transcriptomic analyses, and the development of molecular biomarkers in model organisms, particularly fish and cattle. She is co-author of scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals and co-inventor of patents in the fields of reproductive biotechnology, epigenetics, and applied innovation in aquaculture. Her research interests include functional genomics, the development of translational biotechnological products, scientific innovation, and sustainable solutions applied to animal and human health, as well as agricultural productivity.
