Tony Leandro Rezende da Silveira

Professor at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel) with expertise in laboratory animal science, working with rodent and zebrafish models.

Professor at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel) in the Department of Morphology, Institute of Biology, where he teaches Domestic Animal Anatomy I and II and Production Animal Anatomy I and II. He holds degrees in Biological Sciences (2012) and Veterinary Medicine (2015) from UFPel, as well as a M.Sc. in Parasitology (2014) and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology (2017).

He previously worked at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) as an animal facility specialist, coordinating the Conventional Rodent Animal Facility and collaborating with the Transgenic Fish and Aquatic Animal Facilities, also serving as Deputy Coordinator of the Animal Ethics Committee.

He is currently a collaborating researcher at the Structural Genomics Laboratory (PPGB/UFPel) and a master’s advisor in the Graduate Program in Veterinary Sciences (PPGV/UFPel). He is also a member of the Brazilian Society for Laboratory Animal Science (SBCAL). His expertise includes animal models, laboratory animal science, and the handling of wild-type and genetically modified rodents and zebrafish, as well as teaching in vertebrate zoology, animal anatomy, parasitology, molecular biology, and evolution.
