The history of the International Congress of Philosophy is closely linked to the Graduate Program in Philosophy at Federal University of Pelotas (created in 2008). After the creation of the program, the need arose to establish contacts with professors/researchers from other institutions, both for the growth of the program and for the qualification of graduate students. From there came the idea of organizing an event every two years that would enable this contact with researchers in ethics and political philosophy, the program’s area of concentration. This event, which began in 2009, takes place in odd-numbered years and seeks to discuss relevant topics in philosophy and other related areas.
