Anderson da Rosa Feijó

Anderson is a doctoral student in Plant Physiology, advised by Profº Luis Antonio de Avila and CAPES fellow, currently investigating the selection of rice genotypes responsive to high concentrations of atmospheric CO2 and the effect of increasing this gas on the phenomenon of cross tolerance to stress deficit water and high temperature. Born in the city of Pelotas, RS, he graduated as an Agronomist in 2014. During his undergraduate studies, he received a scientific initiation scholarship from the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory from the UFPel’s Biology Institute. He holds a master’s degree in Plant Physiology with an emphasis on weed science, from the Plant Physiology Graduate Program at UFPel, under the guidance of Professor Luis Antonio de Avila (2014-2016). Since 2016 he is a doctoral student in the Plant Physiology Graduate Program – UFPel, where he develops his project in the line of research on Climate Change in the culture of Rice, under the guidance of Professor Avila. |

Andrisa Balbinot
Andrisa is a doctoral student in Crop Protection, under the guidance of Prof. Luis Antonio de Avila and a CAPES fellow, studying the behavior of rice and harmful rice biotypes in view of the increase in the concentration of atmospheric CO2 and in different irrigation regimes, analyzing different parameters, aiming to contribute to global studies linked to the climate change scenario. Born in Sarandi, RS, Andrisa is the daughter of small farmers, where she developed an admiration for agriculture. She is an Agronomy Graduate from the Federal University of Santa Maria (2008-2013) and Master in Agrobiology (2014-2016) with a focus on the management and control of weeds, by the same institution. In her spare time, Andrisa enjoys being with friends, participating in rock concerts, sporting events and going to the cinema.

Bruna Christofari Ceolin
Bruna is a doctoral student in Crop Protection, a CAPES fellow and is advised by Prof. Edinalvo Rabaioli Camargo. Her research project seeks to understand the behavior and absorption mechanisms of the herbicide 2,4-D in the vapor phase by sensitive plants; study potential nanocarriers as to their ability to provide controlled release of 2,4-D; as well as, analyze possible alternative sorbents in the absorption of the herbicide in the air, helping its identification in a fast and inexpensive way. Born in Santana do Livramento, RS, the agronomist is a graduate from UFPel. In 2017, she started her studies at CEHERB, under the guidance of Profº Luis Antonio de Avila, focusing on the volatilization area of the herbicide 2,4-D, where she received the title of master in 2019. In her spare time, she likes to cook , read and go to the farm.

Camille Flores Soares
Camille is a doctoral student in Crop Protection a CAPES fellow and is advised by Prof. Edinalvo Rabaioli Camargo. Born in Rosário do Sul, RS, Camille has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Agronomy from the Federal University of Santa Maria, with a period at Northwest Missouri State University and Kansas State University (USA). She has been working with research in the management of irrigated rice since 2012.

Diana Milena Zabala Pardo
Diana is a doctoral student in Crop Protection, a CAPES fellow and advised by Drª Fabiane Lamego. Her research is focused on the study of RNAi (interference RNA) in weed control. Diana is from Bogotá, Colombia, graduated in Biology and Agronomy, Master in Agrarian Sciences, all from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, with initial training in plant breeding. She has experience in herbicide resistance and molecular biology. She is also interested in learning more about history and astronomy, playing sports and jogging.

Diego Martins Chiapinotto
Diego is a doctoral student in Crop Protection, advised by Profº Drº Edinalvo Rabaioli Camargo, and is a CNPq fellow. His research seeks to elucidate the mechanisms of resistance of Cyperus iria and Echinochloa colona to herbicides. Born in Itaqui, RS, he was raised in Bororé, where he left to study. He graduated in Psychology in Santa Maria and returned to his hometown, where he studied Agronomy at the Federal University of Pampa. His roots and hobby are rice farming.

Joseano Graciliano da Silva
Joseano is a doctoral student in Seed Science and Technology, advised by Profº Dirceu Agostinetto. Joseano is investigating population dynamics of seeds and physiological quality of Euphorbia heterophylla L. in coexistence with the soybean culture, seeking to evaluate the effect of certain management practices as a tool to control and reduce the seed bank of Euphorbia heterophylla L. in the soil. Joseano is an agricultural technician from IFPE where he was a PIBIC fellow. Graduated in Agronomy at UFCG, where he received a PET scholarship (Tutorial Education Program) and developed activities in the areas of Research, Teaching and Extension, in addition to a master’s degree in Seed Science and Technology at UFPel.

Maicon Fernando Schmitz
Maicon is a doctoral student, a CAPES fellow and is advised by Drº Leandro Vargas. His research project encompasses the identification, characterization and mechanisms involved in the resistance of Euphorbia heterophylla to inhibitors of hydroxyphenyl pyruvate dioxigenase (HPPD) in Rio Grande do Sul. Maicon is an Agronomy Graduate from UFFS and Masters in Crop Protection (weed science concentration area) by the Federal University of Pelotas, performing their work at CEHERB (2018). He is a native of Sarandi, RS, and was a representative of CEHERB at the 3rd and 4th Brazilian Weed Science Championships held in 2017 and 2018. In the event that took place in 2017, Maicon won 1st place in the General Individual; 1st place in the Individual Sprayer Calibration Test and 1st place in the Team Sprayer Calibration Test. In 2018, he again reached the 1st place of the General Individual, reaching the 1st place in the QUIZ, in the Weed Identification test and in the Herbicide Symptoms test.

Marcus Vinícius Fipke
Fipke is a doctoral student in Crop Protection, advised by Prof. Luis Antonio de Avila and a CAPES fellow, and is studying the efficacy of herbicides in Eragrostis plana Ness plants acclimated to water deficit, focusing on elucidating the interaction of water deficit and sub-doses of herbicides with increased tolerance to glyphosate and quizalofop-p-ethyl herbicides in subsequent generations of Eragrostis plano. Born in Santa Rosa, RS, he chose Agronomy as a profession when he studied as Agricultural Technician (2006-2008). Subsequently, he graduated in Agronomy from the Federal University of Pelotas (2009-2014) and Master in Phytotechnics from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2014-2016). He joined CEHERB in 2016, when he started his PhD at the Crop Protection Graduate Program (2016-). Currently, his research is focused on the study of the interaction of abiotic stresses x herbicide resistance in Eragostis plana.

Natália Garcia
Natália is a doctoral student in Plant Physiology, supervised by Prof. Dr. Luis Antonio de Avila and a CAPES fellow. Her research aims to understand the dynamics of the herbicide 2,4-D in vine plants. Through evaluations of field experiments, Natália intends to investigate the metabolic and genomic response of different grape varieties submitted to sub-doses of auxinic herbicides. Born in the city of Pelotas, RS, from a family of farmers, she is an Agronomy Graduate from the Federal University of Pelotas, with a sandwich period at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (2014-2015). Subsequently she did an internship in the field of phytopathology at the University of California – Davis (2015) and EMBRAPA (2016), also in phytopathology. She has a master’s degree in Plant Physiology with an emphasis in the field of Plant Biochemistry, through the Plant Physiology Graduate Program at UFPel, under the guidance of Professor Luciano do Amarante (2016-2018). In her spare time she likes to be with friends, go to the beach, read and watch TV shows.

Renan Souza Silva
Renan is a doctoral student in Plant Physiology, with a scholarship and advised by Prof. Luis Antonio de Avila, and is developing studies on the response of Leersia hexandra and Luziola peruviana to chemical control due to abiotic factors, focusing on the variation in the water content in the soil influencing the partition of assimilated from Leersia hexandra and Luziola peruviana and in its control with glyphosate. Interest in agriculture arose due to the fact that e grew in an environment linked to the countryside. He is an Agronomy Graduate from the Federal University of Pelotas, and during his undergraduate studies he became interested in rice cultivation in the most diverse areas (such as seed pathology and post-harvest) where he interned, due to his very small contact with the crop in his hometown, Jaguarão, RS.

Roberta Bartz Kneib
Roberta is a doctoral student in Plant Physiology, a CAPES fellow and advised by Profº Luis Antonio de Avila. Her research seeks to assess the selectivity of Profoxidim (Aurea 200) in rice cultivation in different cultivars, as well as its interaction with different temperatures and levels of nitrogen fertilization, and to establish a chemical protector for rice culture. Born in São Lourenço do Sul, RS, she is the daughter of farmers. Agronomist, graduated from the Federal University of Pelotas (2015) and Master in Plant Physiology, with emphasis on plant metabolism / ecophysiology, under the guidance of Prof. Gustavo Maia Souza. Her hobbies are reading and cooking.

Roque Mauricio Palacios Zuñiga
Roque is a doctoral student in Crop Protection, a CAPES fellow and supervised by Profº Luis Antonio de Avila. His research is focused on the use of Machine Learning in the detection of auxinic herbicides. Roque is born in the city of Quininde, Esmeraldas, Ecuador. He has always had contact with agribusiness, especially in the management of tropical crops (cocoa, bananas, oil palm, corn, rice, soy). Agronomist by the State Technical University of Quevedo and Master in Crop Protection by Crop Protection Graduate Program in the area of weed science, UFPel. He completed his master’s degree project under the guidance of Prof ° Luis Antonio de Avila, with the aim of evaluating the ryegrass response (Lolium multiflorum) to the high atmospheric concentration of CO2.
