
William Borges Domingues
Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s and PhD in Sciences from the Graduate Program in Biotechnology at the Federal University of Pelotas (PPGB-UFPel, CAPES Excellence Level 7), where he carried out research and technological development activities in the fields of animal biotechnology and epigenetics. He received the CAPES Thesis Award 2021 in the Biotechnology area.
He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Doutor Empreendedor Program of FAPERGS, serving as coordinator of the project “GenoTrack: Integrated Solution for Large-Scale Genetic Analysis and Automated Reporting in Precision Nutrition and Health”. He also coordinates the Innovation Plan “GenoTrack: Genetic Platform for Predictive Health” within the Catalisa ICT Program of Sebrae Nacional, under the academic mentorship of Prof. Dr. Vinicius Farias Campos (Structural Genomics Laboratory, UFPel).
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked as a researcher at the Molecular Diagnostics Unit of the Teaching Hospital of UFPel (EBSERH-UFPel), contributing to research projects focused on healthcare support. He also worked in the scientific-technical area of Phase II and III clinical trials at the Clinical Research Center of the UFPel Teaching Hospital.
In recent years, he has co-authored 55 articles in international journals, 24 invention patents filed at the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), and 4 book chapters. During his undergraduate studies, he received the Diploma of Academic Merit, and during his Master’s degree he ranked first in the PPGB-UFPel doctoral progression selection process.
His research interests focus on technological development and innovation, particularly in biotechnology applied to human health.
