What’s the GBEM?

The Brazilian Group of Studies on Multimorbidity (GBEM, in portuguese) studies, researches and disseminates knowledge about multimorbidity in Brazil. Currently, 55 Brazilian researches and 10 international researchers are part of the group. Through this network, we intend to optimize efforts to understand the causes, consequences and challenges for adequate management of multimorbity in the Brazilian population. The group is registered in the Brazilian Research Council (CNPq). Activities can also be followed at ResearchGate, Facebook and Twitter.

Main Goals

The main objective of the group is to promote knowledge development, advance and diffusion regarding multimorbity. The target audience are researchers, health professionals and general people who are interested in learning more about the group. We aim to develop research, studies and extension actions on the following areas:

– Occurrence studies, clusters of diseases, causes, consequences and temporal trend of the problem.

2) Importance of multimorbity in the management of health systems
– Promotion of awareness actions and discussion of the multimorbity with the policy-makers

3) Clinical management
– Quality of health care for individuals with multiple chronic problems;
– Evaluation, creation and adaptation of clinical protocols;
– Validation of instruments as support for clinical practice.

4) Training of health professionals
– Education programs
