METHODOLOGY

This research is categorized as quanti-qualitative in terms of approach and as descriptive in terms of objectives. It observes, records, analyzes, and correlates facts or phenomena (variables) without manipulating them. It will be collected data from the phenomenon’s reality (organizers and directors of folk events). The target population of this study is directors and organizers of folk events from all continents, including at least:

– 100 directors  organizers of folk events;

– these being at least 90 different folk events;

– of these, at least 30 in Brazil and 60 abroad;

– of these, at least, from 30 different countries;

– being from these, at least, from three different continents, ensuring the representativeness of a large portion of the studied population.

Data collection will be through a specific resource of the human science area, namely a questionnaire, made available online at the research website and through our e-mails list, obtained from our participation in folklore festivals.  The questionnaire includes open and closed questions. Open questions allow participants to respond freely in a discursive manner, exposing their opinions and their language about the subject addressed. Closed questions present participants with several alternative answers so that the one that best suits them can be chosen.  In some questions, it is possible to select more than one answer. We hope to create an extensive network, where the participants who responded can also indicate other participants to have more generous coverage in means of numbers and different contexts.
