The JPEG Pleno Light Field coding modes (slides)
Tuesday, October 20th, 08:30 AM — 10:00 AM (GMT-3)
This presentation will be given in Portuguese.
Abstract
JPEG Pleno is an upcoming standard from the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29/WG 1 (JPEG) Committee, aiming to provide a standard framework for coding new imaging modalities derived from representations inspired by the plenoptic function. Within JPEG Pleno, the light field coding part (JPEG Pleno Part 2) standardizes light field coding technologies, considering the light field modelled as a 2D array of 2D views. Two coding modes are defined: one exploiting the redundancy using a 4D prediction scheme; and the other exploiting the inherent 4D redundancy in 4D light field data utilizing a 4D transform technique. This talk will present and discuss the two independent light field coding modes.
