Created at the initiative of Prof. Paulo Tholozan Dias da Costa, in 1971, the Department of Agrarian Social Sciences is one of the seven constituent departments of the centennial Faculty of Agronomy Eliseu Maciel. Develops teaching, research and extension activities in the field of Sociology, Economics, Administration, Planning and Rural Communication. Since its foundation it is characterized by being an organ that contributes to academic formation in several courses, among them, Agronomy, Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science and Agricultural Engineering. Contributes to several Postgraduate Programs, among them, Family Agricultural Production Systems (PPGSPAF) and Territorial Development and Agroindustrial Systems (PPGDTSA).
