I’m currently working on the following research projects:
Disinformation and Covid-19 in Brazil (2020-current)– The project aims to understand how disinformation about covid-19 circulates in Brazilian social media platforms, how it is legitimated and what strategies can be used to fight the spread of this kind of problematic content. This project is supported by Poynter/IFC, FAPERGS and CNPq.
Political Conversations and Disinformation (2018-current) – The project focus on how disinformation impacts political conversations and voter engagement and, ultimately, democracy on social media public sphere. We look into the impact of disinformation in echo chambers, political radicalization, and overall perception of democracy in Brazil and Latin America. This project is supported by FAPERGS and CNPq. It has also a collaborative partnership with RISE_SMA.
Toxicity, Discourse and Political Conversations on Social Media (2021-current) – The project looks into discourse toxicity and its effects on conversations in social media, particularly on political conversations that focus on minorities and candidates from minorities.
