Professor Gelson Perin has a degree in Industrial Chemistry (1994), a Master’s degree in Chemistry (1996) and a PhD in Chemistry (2000) from the Federal University of Santa Maria. He is currently a Full Professor at the Federal University of Pelotas and teaches the subjects of Organic Chemistry 1, Organic Analysis and Advanced Organic Synthesis for Chemistry courses. He was a member of the Chemistry Committee at the Research Support Foundation of the State of Rio Grande do Sul – FAPERGS between the periods of 2013 to 2017 and 2022 to 2024. He was a member of the Institutional Committee for Scientific and Technological Initiation Scholarships – UFPel between February 2013 and February 2017. He has experience in the area of Chemistry, with an emphasis on Organic Synthesis and works mainly on the following topics: Development of synthetic methodologies using alternative reagents (Oxone), alternative energy sources (visible light, microwaves and ultrasound ) and green solvents (PEG and glycerol) to obtain new substances functionalized with organochalcogens (S, Se and Te).
