The Video Technology Research Group (ViTech) was created in 2014 in the Technological Development Center (CDTec) at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel). ViTech is composed of five professors and many students in different levels of studies (Ph.D., Master and undergraduate students). The main activities of the group focus on topics related to visual signal processing, such as image/video coding, point clouds and light field compression.
ViTech works are constantly published in relevant conferences, such as IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), and IEEE International Conference on Electronics Circuits and Systems (ICECS). The works have also been published in journals such as IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (TCSVT), IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems (TCAD), and Journal of Real-Time Image Processing (JRTIP).
The relevant results produced by the group have enabled the researchers to receive funds from different Brazilian agencies to develop their projects, such as FAPERGS, CNPq, CAPES, FINEP and RNP.
ViTech researchers also collaborate with other institutions such as UFRGS, PUCRS, IFSul, and UFSC, in Brazil, and foreign institutions such as University of Lisbon, University of Coimbra, Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, and University of California – Irvine.
