Energy consumption is one of the most important issue in sustainable chemistry and the so called \u201cenabling technologies\u201d offer a relevant contribution to reduce process costs and environmental impact. Microwaves, acoustic and hydrodynamic cavitation, ball milling, flow reactors dramatically changed the way we think of chemical processes. Besides an efficient heat and mass transfer, these techniques may generate high-energy micro-environments and hot spots that strongly enhance reactivity and reaction rates. Although combined irradiation with these energy sources entails technical and safety considerations, sequential or simultaneous treatments can easily be performed on a lab and pilot scale with unexpected synergistic effects. Flow systems provide additional advantages because they close the gap between bench chemistry and chemical engineering by mimicking large-scale production on a lab or pilot scale. Relationship and synergy among different energy sources may help to fully understand their features and great potential, highlighting, whenever possible, comparative aspects.<\/p>\n<p><em><u>Curr\u00edculo<br \/>\n<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<p>O professor Giancarlo Cravotto possui sua pesquisa documentada por mais de 300 artigos cient\u00edficos, 20 cap\u00edtulos de livros, 15 patentes e cerca de 350 comunica\u00e7\u00f5es em encontros cient\u00edficos incluindo palestras plen\u00e1rias, aberturas e encerramentos. Sua pesquisa tem sido conduzida com foco na extra\u00e7\u00e3o, purifica\u00e7\u00e3o, s\u00edntese e modifica\u00e7\u00e3o qu\u00edmica de produtos naturais. Estes estudos t\u00eam alicer\u00e7ado novos procedimentos sint\u00e9ticos com a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de fontes n\u00e3o convencionais de energia, como micro-ondas, ultrassom, mecanoqu\u00edmica, rea\u00e7\u00f5es em fluxo, etc, bem como contribu\u00edram para o desenvolvimento de reatores h\u00edbridos inovadores. Estas t\u00e9cnicas e equipamentos v\u00eam sendo aplicados nos mais diversos campos da qu\u00edmica, como s\u00edntese org\u00e2nica, degrada\u00e7\u00e3o de poluentes org\u00e2nicos persistentes, extra\u00e7\u00e3o de plantas, processamento de alimentos, preparo de amostras, bem como muitas aplica\u00e7\u00f5es de interesse industrial.<br \/>\nAtualmente \u00e9 coordenador e membro Italiano do comit\u00ea de gest\u00e3o do grupo de trabalho \u201cCOST Action D32\u201d. Seu grupo \u00e9 parceiro de v\u00e1rios projetos da Uni\u00e3o Europ\u00e9ia, dentre os quais podem-se destacar: ARCADE 7th FP (conclu\u00eddo), MAPSYN \u201cHighly efficient syntheses using alternative energy forms\u201d (FP7-NMP-2012) e \u201cECOEXTRACTION\u201d (Alcotra 2011). Dentro do grande projeto \u201cHorizon 2020\u201d, \u00e9 o atual coordenador cient\u00edfico do projeto US4GREENCHEM \u201cCombined Ultrasonic and Enzyme treatment of Lignocellulosic Feedstock as Substrate for Sugar Based Biotechnological Applications\u201d, e recentemente aprovou o projeto \u201cCOSMIC\u201d (European Training Networks 2016).<br \/>\nO professor Cravotto possui v\u00e1rias ind\u00fastrias parceiras, nos segmentos de alimentos e empacotamento, fitoextratos, farmac\u00eauticos, produtos qu\u00edmicos finos, cosm\u00e9ticos, petroqu\u00edmicos, t\u00eaxteis e pol\u00edmeros biom\u00e9dicos. Possui acordos de coopera\u00e7\u00e3o assinados (i.e. Soremartec-Ferrero SpA, Bracco Imaging SpA, Kem One \u2013 Resilia SpA, Indena SpA, DSM Nutritional Products, Silva Group SpA).<br \/>\nDesde 2007 \u00e9 \u201cFull Professor\u201d de Qu\u00edmica Org\u00e2nica na Universidade de Torino, onde atua como chefe de Departamento de Ci\u00eancia e Tecnologia dos F\u00e1rmacos. \u00c9 editor dos peri\u00f3dicos Green Processing and Synthesis (De Gruyter) e membro do corpo editorial da Ultrasonics Sonochemistry (Elsevier).
