O PPGCEM (Programa de P\u00f3s-Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Ci\u00eancia e Engenharia de Materiais) realizou palestra com a Professora Catherine Especel, da Universidade de Poitiers (Fran\u00e7a) no dia 05 de dezembro \u00e0s 10h no Audit\u00f3rio da Reitoria.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

O tema abordado tem como t\u00edtulo \u201cOverview of the activities of the IC2MP SAMCat team. Focus on bimetallic catalysts: preparations and applications\u201d e faz parte de uma s\u00e9rie de semin\u00e1rios sobre a aplica\u00e7\u00e3o de propriedade f\u00edsico qu\u00edmicas em materiais avan\u00e7ados aplicados para diversos setores como energia e meio ambiente.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Al\u00e9m disso, a atividade faz parte do processo de internacionaliza\u00e7\u00e3o do PPGCEM no \u00e2mbito dos projetos Print\/CAPES e CAPES\/COFECUB (Comit\u00ea Franc\u00eas de Avalia\u00e7\u00e3o da Coopera\u00e7\u00e3o Universit\u00e1ria com o Brasil). Atrav\u00e9s da participa\u00e7\u00e3o nos projetos o PPGCEM recebeu pesquisadores internacionais e permitiu aos seus acad\u00eamicos e docentes a possibilidade de realizar mobilidade no exterior.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Overview of the activities of the IC2MP SAMCat team. Focus on bimetallic catalysts: preparations and applications.<\/b><\/p>\n

After an overview of the activities of the SAMCat team from IC2MP (University of Poitiers), the preparation in our research group of various supported bimetallic systems for applications in the transformation of bio-renewable substrates and in energy will be presented.<\/span><\/p>\n

The properties of bimetallic catalysts are significantly different from their monometallic analogues. Indeed, the modification of a monometallic catalyst by the addition of a second metal is an important approach for tailoring the electronic and geometric structures of the nanoparticles to enhance their catalytic activity and selectivity. In many cases, bimetallic nanoparticles have higher catalytic efficiencies than their monometallic counterparts, owing to strong synergy between the metals. Because of the presence of a second metal component, the complexity in preparing these materials increases, and in many cases it is the method of preparation which determines the final structure, and hence properties, of these materials. In our group we are developing methods of preparation by surface redox route allowing the control of metal-metal interactions.<\/span><\/p>\n
