The LabPMaT is a research laboratory of the Graduate Program in Science and Engineering of Materials (PPGCEM) at UFPel, led by Professors Andr\u00e9 Luiz Missio (Lattes<\/a>) and Amanda Dantas de Oliveira (Lattes<\/a>).<\/strong>\u00a0The laboratory focuses on the development of new sustainable materials, contributing to scientific and technological advancements that address global challenges and align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n

The main research areas of LabPMaT include:<\/h3>\n

Development of Materials from Tannins:<\/strong> Exploration of tannins, naturally derived compounds, for applications in sustainable materials. This research line aligns with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production<\/strong>, promoting the use of renewable and more sustainable resources in production processes.<\/p>\n

Nanocellulose:<\/strong> Study and application of nanocellulose, an innovative and biodegradable material with exceptional mechanical properties, for the development of composites and new materials. This research contributes to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure<\/strong>, by fostering technological and industrial innovations, and to SDG 15: Life on Land<\/strong>, due to its focus on biological resources and environmental preservation.<\/p>\n

Separation and Purification of Lignocellulosic Materials:<\/strong> Research aimed at the isolation and purification of biomaterials from lignocellulosic sources, promoting the use of renewable materials. This line is in synergy with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production<\/strong>, encouraging responsible and sustainable production from plant biomass.<\/p>\n

Polymeric Composites:<\/strong> Development of new polymer-based composites, focusing on improving mechanical and thermal properties for various industrial and environmental applications. These projects are linked to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure<\/strong>, by promoting innovations that enhance the durability and efficiency of materials.<\/p>\n

Polymers and Polymeric Blends:<\/strong> Study of polymeric blends and their modification processes to create materials with properties tailored to industrial and environmental needs. Aligned with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production<\/strong>, this research seeks to develop more efficient materials with lower environmental impact.<\/p>\n

Polymeric Materials Processing:<\/strong> Research on advanced technologies for polymer processing, aiming at the creation of high-performance materials with applications in strategic sectors. This focus contributes to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure<\/strong>, which encourages industrial innovation and the development of sustainable infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The Laboratory of Polymers and Lignocellulosic Materials (LabPMaT)<\/strong> stands out for its continuous pursuit of sustainable and innovative solutions for the development of new materials, with a strong commitment to sustainability and the circular economy.
