Museu Leopold, Viena, \u00c1ustria.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"78\" data-end=\"606\">Na pintura <strong data-start=\"89\" data-end=\"109\">&#8220;Death and Life&#8221;<\/strong>, Gustav Klimt prop\u00f5e um embate simb\u00f3lico e ontol\u00f3gico entre dois princ\u00edpios fundamentais da exist\u00eancia: a imperman\u00eancia e o desejo de continuidade. \u00c0 esquerda, a Morte, envolta em tons sombrios e figura esquel\u00e9tica, observa, quase sorrindo, o amontoado de corpos humanos \u00e0 direita, nus, entrela\u00e7ados, adormecidos ou sonhadores. N\u00e3o h\u00e1 choque direto, mas uma presen\u00e7a vigilante e inevit\u00e1vel. \u00c9 nesta tens\u00e3o silenciosa que a pintura atinge sua pot\u00eancia filos\u00f3fica.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"608\" data-end=\"1124\">A Morte, como figura individualizada, n\u00e3o aparece aqui como uma interrup\u00e7\u00e3o brutal, mas como uma <em data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"728\">testemunha necess\u00e1ria<\/em>. A morte vela o sono da vida. E velar \u00e9 tornar permanente. Sua postura lateral, quase \u00e0 margem da cena, revela sua fun\u00e7\u00e3o: recordar. A aqui, a morte nada tem a ver com destrui\u00e7\u00e3o (ver o meu livro Vita, a rela\u00e7\u00e3o necess\u00e1ria entre vida e morte). Ela \u00e9, ao mesmo tempo, amea\u00e7a e medida. A vida, em sua plenitude de corpos e cores, s\u00f3 adquire forma por estar constantemente sob o olhar da morte. Este \u00e9 o primeiro gesto ontol\u00f3gico da pintura: vida e morte n\u00e3o s\u00e3o opostos, mas co-implica\u00e7\u00f5es. A exist\u00eancia s\u00f3 se torna consciente de si porque \u00e9 finita.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1126\" data-end=\"1496\">No centro da massa humana h\u00e1 um entrela\u00e7amento de gestos ternos, de olhos fechados, de abandono ao instante, como se a vida, para resistir \u00e0 morte, precisasse ignor\u00e1-la. E, no entanto, ali ela est\u00e1. Essa recusa, essa recusa suave em ver, constitui a ilus\u00e3o necess\u00e1ria \u00e0 continuidade da exist\u00eancia. O homem, para viver, precisa fingir que n\u00e3o morrer\u00e1.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1498\" data-end=\"1977\">O que Klimt desenha, portanto, n\u00e3o \u00e9 um combate, mas um <em data-start=\"1554\" data-end=\"1574\">equil\u00edbrio tr\u00e1gico<\/em>. O desejo de viver, nos abra\u00e7os, na nudez, na gera\u00e7\u00e3o, no repouso, \u00e9 sempre atravessado pela sombra do fim. E, ainda assim, floresce. Esse impulso vital se aproxima do que Schopenhauer chama de &#8220;Vontade&#8221;: um movimento cego, irracional, que se manifesta na forma de desejo, reprodu\u00e7\u00e3o, apego. A Vida, com seus corpos entrela\u00e7ados, \u00e9 a express\u00e3o pl\u00e1stica desse querer que n\u00e3o se justifica, mas insiste.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1979\" data-end=\"2509\">Contudo, ao contr\u00e1rio da reden\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e9tica proposta por Schopenhauer, onde a arte permite uma suspens\u00e3o moment\u00e2nea da Vontade, Klimt parece rejeitar a ideia de fuga. Sua pintura \u00e9 carnal, fecunda, intensamente terrestre. Aqui n\u00e3o h\u00e1 ren\u00fancia, mas celebra\u00e7\u00e3o. A morte n\u00e3o serve para fugir do mundo, mas para intensificar o espanto diante dele. A beleza da Vida est\u00e1 em sua fragilidade. Ao representar a morte com dignidade e serenidade, Klimt a reintegra ao ciclo, devolve-lhe sua fun\u00e7\u00e3o estruturante: n\u00e3o inimiga, mas contorno.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2511\" data-end=\"2870\">A pintura sugere ainda uma dimens\u00e3o psicol\u00f3gica profunda: os olhos fechados dos vivos talvez n\u00e3o expressem apenas paz, mas tamb\u00e9m nega\u00e7\u00e3o. A figura da morte, que observa do canto, parece tolerar esse gesto. Como se dissesse: &#8220;continuem sonhando, eu esperarei&#8221;. H\u00e1 aqui um eco do tr\u00e1gico grego: a sabedoria consiste em reconhecer os limites, n\u00e3o em super\u00e1-los.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2872\" data-end=\"3271\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Em suma, &#8220;Death and Life&#8221; \u00e9 uma medita\u00e7\u00e3o pict\u00f3rica sobre a condi\u00e7\u00e3o humana. Klimt prop\u00f5e que viver \u00e9 habitar o intervalo entre o desejo e o fim, entre o impulso e o sil\u00eancio. A pintura n\u00e3o consola, n\u00e3o promete, mas ilumina, como uma vela diante do abismo. E nessa luz t\u00eanue, vislumbramos o que h\u00e1 de mais profundo: n\u00e3o a vit\u00f3ria da vida sobre a morte, mas sua dan\u00e7a silenciosa e indissoci\u00e1vel.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2872\" data-end=\"3271\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Prof. (e aluno) Alexandre H.
