Student Visa Guidelines (VITEM IV &amp; VITEM XIII)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">According to the Brazilian Migration Law (No. 13.445\/2017), international students coming to UFPel for regular courses, academic practices, or supervised clinical training must apply for the <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">appropriate student visa<\/span><\/strong><\/span>. Please pay close attention to the following guidelines before applying at the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"6\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"6,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Proof of Acceptance:<\/b> The Acceptance Letter issued by UFPel is the official and sufficient document to prove your institutional link, specifying your mobility period and conditions. <i data-path-to-node=\"6,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"181\">Do not<\/i> submit additional letters from your home university to the consulate, as differing terminology might cause visa processing delays.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"6,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Academic Exchange vs. Internship:<\/b> As a public higher education institution, UFPel <b data-path-to-node=\"6,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"82\">does not sign internship contracts or tripartite agreements<\/b> for incoming mobility. All practical activities performed by international students are strictly considered part of the academic curriculum under the &#8220;Academic Exchange&#8221; framework. Upon completion, UFPel will issue the proper academic transcripts verifying the practices carried out.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"6,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Proof of Financial Means:<\/b> If you are receiving food and accommodation benefits through a bilateral agreement, please note that the UFPel Acceptance Letter stating these benefits is usually <b data-path-to-node=\"6,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"189\">not sufficient<\/b> as standalone proof of financial capacity for the consulate. We strongly advise applying as a non-scholarship student by presenting a notarized Declaration of Financial Responsibility signed by a parent\/sponsor, along with their bank statements, to prove you can financially support yourself during your stay in Brazil.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\"><i data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Note: The Consulate General reserves the right to request additional documents. We highly recommend consulting the official website of the specific Brazilian Embassy or Consulate in your jurisdiction for complete requirements.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-size: 14pt; background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>CRITICAL WARNING REGARDING TOURIST ENTRY:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Under Brazilian immigration law, your visa category is determined strictly by the <b data-path-to-node=\"4,0\" data-index-in-node=\"124\">activity you will perform in the country<\/b>, not by the length of your stay. Entering Brazil on a tourist visa or a 90-day tourist waiver <b data-path-to-node=\"4,0\" data-index-in-node=\"259\">strictly prohibits<\/b> you from enrolling in courses, conducting academic practices, or receiving any institutional benefits at UFPel. You must hold a <b data-path-to-node=\"4,0\" data-index-in-node=\"406\">consular visa<\/b> that explicitly authorizes academic activities (<b data-path-to-node=\"4,0\" data-index-in-node=\"468\">VITEM IV<\/b> or <b data-path-to-node=\"4,0\" data-index-in-node=\"480\">VITEM XIII &#8211; Mercosur<\/b>).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>EMERGENCY \/ LATE VISA EXCEPTION:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>If it is absolutely impossible to secure your consular visa prior to your departure date, you must contact UFPel International <b data-path-to-node=\"5,0\" data-index-in-node=\"160\">urgently<\/b>. We will provide specific instructions on how to apply for a Residence Authorization for Study Purposes (Autoriza\u00e7\u00e3o de Resid\u00eancia para fins de estudo) directly with the Brazilian Federal Police upon your arrival.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080; background-color: #ffff99;\"><strong>4.
