Pr\u00eamio tem como objetivo incentivar a inova\u00e7\u00e3o em v\u00e1rias \u00e1reas do conhecimento, homenagear o poder transformador dos indiv\u00edduos na sociedade e estimular novos talentos. J\u00e1 consolidado, o Pr\u00eamio hoje \u00e9 reconhecido por sua independ\u00eancia e seriedade.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">O Pr\u00eamio foi criado h\u00e1 58 anos para incentivar a inova\u00e7\u00e3o nas diversas \u00e1reas do conhecimento, que se alternam a cada edi\u00e7\u00e3o. \u00a0A categoria \u201cJuventude\u201d destaca um profissional de at\u00e9 35 anos, cujo trabalho represente um novo paradigma em sua \u00e1rea, ao qual \u00e9 conferido o pr\u00eamio em dinheiro, al\u00e9m de diplomas e medalhas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">O an\u00fancio dos contemplados foi feito no dia 26 de julho, logo ap\u00f3s a reuni\u00e3o do Grande J\u00fari formado por reitores de universidades e presidentes de entidades cient\u00edficas e culturais de renome. Na categoria \u201cVida e Obra\u201d, o crit\u00e9rio de escolha leva em conta o conjunto de trabalho dos profissionais e, na \u201cJuventude\u201d, s\u00e3o escolhidos jovens de at\u00e9 35 anos que se destacam em seus campos de atua\u00e7\u00e3o. Para a edi\u00e7\u00e3o 2013 do Pr\u00eamio, a Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Bunge recebeu 179 indica\u00e7\u00f5es, um n\u00famero recorde em 58 anos de exist\u00eancia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Os candidatos ao Pr\u00eamio Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Bunge s\u00e3o indicados pelas principais universidades e entidades culturais e cient\u00edficas brasileiras.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">O per\u00edodo para indica\u00e7\u00f5es este ano ocorreu em abril e maio. Uma comiss\u00e3o t\u00e9cnica composta por cinco membros em cada \u00e1rea de premia\u00e7\u00e3o, sendo um do exterior, selecionou os pesquisadores em cada ramo do conhecimento na categoria \u201cVida e Obra\u201d, indicando-os para a decis\u00e3o do Grande J\u00fari. No caso dos jovens talentos, a comiss\u00e3o t\u00e9cnica escolheu diretamente os homenageados do ano.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><u>Curr\u00edculo<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nGa\u00facho de Pelotas, Samuel Beskow tem 31 anos, \u00e9 formado em Engenharia Agr\u00edcola pela Universidade Federal de Pelotas, possui mestrado em Engenharia Agr\u00edcola na \u00e1rea de Irriga\u00e7\u00e3o e Drenagem e doutorado em Engenharia Agr\u00edcola na \u00e1rea de Engenharia de \u00c1gua e Solo, ambos pela Universidade Federal de Lavras. Seu doutorado foi realizado na modalidade \u201csandu\u00edche\u201d, junto \u00e0 Purdue University, dos Estados Unidos e seu p\u00f3s-doutorado na Universidade Federal de Pelotas, como bolsista da CAPES \u2013 Coordena\u00e7\u00e3o de Aperfei\u00e7oamento de Pessoal de N\u00edvel Superior. Beskow tem significativa import\u00e2ncia para o crescimento da \u00e1rea de pesquisa em Engenharia de \u00c1gua e Solo. Seus trabalhos de mestrado e doutorado tiveram como temas, respectivamente, A estimativa das perdas de \u00e1gua em sistemas de irriga\u00e7\u00e3o por aspers\u00e3o e A modelagem hidrol\u00f3gica de bacias em ambiente SIG. Em ambos os casos destaca-se pela contribui\u00e7\u00e3o inovadora, pelo rigor cient\u00edfico e pela amplitude da aplica\u00e7\u00e3o de seus resultados. Como produto de sua tese de doutorado, Beskow criou um modelo de simula\u00e7\u00e3o hidrol\u00f3gica, que recebeu o nome de LASH, Lavras Simulation Hydrology. Atualmente \u00e9 professor adjunto na \u00e1rea de hidrologia na Universidade Federal de Pelotas, onde coordena o Laborat\u00f3rio de Hidrologia e Modelagem Hidrol\u00f3gica e tamb\u00e9m o Programa de P\u00f3s-Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Recursos H\u00eddricos.
