{"id":1796,"date":"2020-05-26T10:36:57","date_gmt":"2020-05-26T13:36:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.ufpel.edu.br\/hidrologiaemodelagemhidrologica\/?page_id=1796"},"modified":"2020-05-26T10:53:22","modified_gmt":"2020-05-26T13:53:22","slug":"watershed-isochrones-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.ufpel.edu.br\/hidrologiaemodelagemhidrologica\/watershed-isochrones-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Watershed Isochrones"},"content":{"rendered":"<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>Where was <\/b><b><i>Watershed Isochrones<\/i><\/b><b> developed?<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The software named <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Watershed Isochrones <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">was developed by undergraduate and postgraduate students and professors from Federal University of Pelotas, who are members of the Research Group on Hydrology and Hydrological Modeling in Watersheds.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify\" start=\"2\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b><\/b> <b>Programming language<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This software was developed as a script to be used in ArcGIS. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Watershed Isochrones <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">was fully implemented in the Python programming language by making use of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">arcpy <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">library, which consists of a set of geoprocessing procedures intended for applications in ArcGIS.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify\" start=\"3\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b> Minimum computer configurations<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">recommend systems that meet or exceed the following specifications in order to use <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Watershed Isochrones<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: 2.2 GHz processor and 2 GB RAM memory. In addition, users also need a licence of ArcGIS 10.1 or higher and the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Spatial Analyst <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">extension.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify\" start=\"4\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>Scope<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The objective of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Watershed Isochrones<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is to compute the travel time of flow from each grid cell in the watershed to its outlet and then delineate the isochrones and the corresponding Time-Area Histogram (TAH). Isochrones refer to lines delineated by points of equal travel time to the watershed outlet, whereas TAH corresponds to a graph relating travel time of direct surface runoff from a given point in the watershed to its outlet and percentage of watershed area contributing direct surface runoff to the outlet. This tool only requires the digital elevation model (DEM) and the definition of the watershed outlet, both in format compatible with ArcGIS. For additional information on input, procedures and output, users are encouraged to read the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Watershed Isochrones <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">tutorial, which is stored in the same folder where the software is installed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify\" start=\"6\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b> Results generated by <\/b><b><i>Watershed Isochrones<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After executing various geoprocessing and hydrology operations, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Watershed Isochrones<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> generates a map representing the travel time of direct surface runoff from each grid cell to the watershed outlet and another map containing the isochrones delineated in time intervals defined by the user.
