Nowadays, billions of people worldwide use a wide variety of online video services every day. Applications range from videoconferencing and video streaming to social networks and surveillance scenarios. Concurrently, recent studies have found that in 2018, roughly 1% of the global greenhouse gas emissions could be attributed to these online video services, highlighting the need for research targeting energy efficient online video systems. Ele obteve o grau de Engenheiro de Computa\u00e7\u00e3o pela UFRGS (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, 2007) e o &#8220;Master&#8221; em Sistemas Microeletr\u00f4nicos pela UM2 (Universit\u00e9 Montpellier 2, 2011). Atualmente, \u00e9 Professor Adjunto do Departamento de Engenharia El\u00e9trica da Escola de Engenharia da UFRGS e do Programa de P\u00f3s-Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Microeletr\u00f4nica (PGMICRO) da mesma Universidade.
