Ser\u00e3o apresentados alguns destaques dos resultados da engenharia reversa do Z8000, cuja parte de controle foi projetada \u00e0 m\u00e3o, mostrando diversas estrat\u00e9gias de otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o do leiaute, bem como otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o do n\u00famero de transistores. A observa\u00e7\u00e3o do leiaute do Z8000 inspirou a pesquisa de m\u00e9todos para a gera\u00e7\u00e3o autom\u00e1tica do leiaute de qualquer rede de transistores, permitindo reduzir o n\u00famero de transistores na implementa\u00e7\u00e3o um circuito, e por consequ\u00eancia, redu\u00e7\u00e3o da pot\u00eancia est\u00e1tica. A otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o do consumo energia \u00e9 uma quest\u00e3o importante no mundo da IoT. Algumas das ferramentas de automa\u00e7\u00e3o de leiaute desenvolvidas por nosso grupo s\u00e3o brevemente apresentadas.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Biography<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\">Possui gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Engenharia El\u00e9trica pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1978), DEA em Eletr\u00f4nica e Radiocomunica\u00e7\u00f5es Microeletr\u00f4nica CI &#8211; Institut National Polytechnique (1980) e Doutorado em Inform\u00e1tica, op\u00e7\u00e3o Microeletr\u00f4nica &#8211; Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, Fran\u00e7a (1983). Doutor Honoris Causa pela Universidade de Montpellier, Fran\u00e7a. Atualmente \u00e9 professor titular da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, ex-coordenador dos Programas de P\u00f3s-Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Microeletr\u00f4nica e em Computa\u00e7\u00e3o da UFRGS. Ex vice-presidente da IEEE Circuits and Systems Society. Membro do BoG da IEEE CASS e da IEEE CEDA. Ex-presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de Computa\u00e7\u00e3o. Ex-vice-presidente da IFIP. Ex-chair e atual membro do TC10 da IFIP. IFIP Fellow. Pesquisador n\u00edvel 1A do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cient\u00edfico e Tecnol\u00f3gico. Tem experi\u00eancia na \u00e1rea de Computa\u00e7\u00e3o, com \u00eanfase em Microeletr\u00f4nica, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Microeletr\u00f4nica, EDA, Physical Design, VLSI Design, VLSI CAD, Projetos de Chips Tolerantes a Efeitos da Radia\u00e7\u00e3o.
