He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (2024) from the Graduate Program in Computer Science (PPGC) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), which included a sandwich period at the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Research and Development (INESC-ID, Lisbon, Portugal) between 2022 and 2023, supported by the CAPES PRINT Program. Iago earned his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the PPGC at UFPel in 2020, and his B.Eng. degree in Computer Engineering from the same university in 2019. During his undergraduate studies, he completed an exchange program at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, in 2018. He also holds a technical degree in Electronics (2014) from the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFSul). Iago is a member of the Video Technology Research Group (ViTech) at UFPel and of the Microelectronics Group at UFRGS. He has received several awards for his scientific contributions, including Best Paper Awards, Honorable Mentions, the CNPq Award for Outstanding Scientific and Technological Initiation (2018), the Best M.Sc. Dissertation Award at WebMedia (2021), the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award at WebMedia (2024), and the Summa Cum Laude distinction for his doctoral dissertation at UFRGS. His current research focuses on parallel processing approaches for video encoding, complexity-reduction techniques for 360\u00b0 video coding, and coding methods for light field images. He obtained his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering \u2013 Microelectronics (1982) and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering \u2013 Microelectronics (1986), both from Stanford University. He has extensive experience in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on hardware design and high-density microelectronic circuits (VLSI). He holds a Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Computer Engineering (2014) and a Master&#8217;s degree in Computer Engineering (2017), both from the Federal University of Rio Grande, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Federal University of Pelotas (2020). He is a member of the IEEE and its Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) and Computer-Aided Design Technical Committee (CEDA). His main research areas include the Internet of Things (IoT) and monitoring systems using microcontrollers, as well as gate-level circuit evaluation. He has experience in energy consumption analysis (static and dynamic), aging effects (BTI), and fault modeling in logic gates (permanent and transient). Currently, his research focuses on reliability in nanotechnologies, particularly the investigation and application of techniques for designing and evaluating radiation-hardened standard cell libraries at both electrical and layout levels. She is also a member of the National Research System of Uruguay and serves as Chair of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) Uruguay Chapter.
