Her main research interests lie in the fields of urban anthropology and sociology, where she has explored topics such as spatial values, meanings and consumption, social recomposition, lifestyles, residential dynamics in urban territories and tourism. In parallel, she has developed a second line of research focused on cultural, creative and participatory dynamics, taking into account socio-economic changes and impacts on territories and local communities. Maria Assun\u00e7\u00e3o Gato has a PhD in Cultural and Social Anthropology and a Masters in Geography \u2013 Territory Management from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. In 2008, he completed his PhD in the area of \u200b\u200bStrategies and Methodologies for Rehabilitation and Urban Risk Assessment. He is deputy director of the Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering and Scientific Coordinator of the Research Unit \u2013 RISCO. He teaches subjects in the area of \u200b\u200bPhysics and Construction Technology, Pathology and Rehabilitation in the Civil Engineering curriculum. He guided and advises doctoral and master&#8217;s students on the themes of Rehabilitation of existing buildings, Risk Assessment and Rehabilitation and Energy Efficiency. He has coordinated and participated in several national research projects in the area of \u200b\u200brisk assessment, rehabilitation of existing buildings and innovative construction technology and energy efficiency. He has published a significant number of articles in international and national journals and congresses. He participates in different technical-scientific committees of the CIB International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction.
