The Congress proposes discussions on Citizenship, Public Space and Territory, within five thematic sections described below.<\/strong> Each thematic line will have an award-winning work, which will be awarded at the closing ceremony of the Congress.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Digital Graphics and Citizenship<\/strong><\/p>\n

This theme covers works that demonstrate that the inclusion of individuals in the digital world is related to their possibility of obtaining and exercising their citizenship. It promotes reflection on the connections between design methods and solutions that can be enhanced by digital representation and manufacturing technologies for the development of social technologies. It focuses on didactic reflections for the revision and updating of training processes in the area of \u200b\u200brepresentation to encompass the transdisciplinarity that involves the analysis of the form of\u00a0architecture and design <\/span>objects for the understanding of performances of various types, such as, aesthetic, structural, communicational, using especially the concept of parametric.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perception, Evaluation of the City and Tourism<\/strong><\/p>\n

This theme addresses works that investigate people’s perception and satisfaction with the built and natural environment and also their rights as a citizen in the use and appropriation of the city as a territory. It has a multidisciplinary character receiving contributions from other disciplines, such as urban planning and architecture, psychology, human geography, tourism, urban sociology and anthropology. Research on this topic involves studies of perception (how the individual perceives the environment), cognition (how the individual’s mind absorbs and structures the information received from the environment) and behaviour (how the individual understands, reacts and modifies the environment).<\/p>\n

Contemporary Urbanism and Territories<\/strong><\/p>\n

This theme encompasses studies in different contemporary aspects related to the urban scale. Discusses morphological, aesthetic, social, environmental and climatic aspects of cities. It addresses analyzes supported by computational technology (planning, morphology and urban modeling and investigations in urban climate) and multidisciplinary theoretical discussions (city and contemporaneity and design, production and appropriation of inhabited space). It works at different scales: from the macro-scale, passing through urban microclimates and reaching the implications for the built environment.<\/p>\n

Theory, History and Criticism of Architecture and Urbanism: Heritage and Public Spaces<\/strong><\/p>\n

This theme encompasses studies that seek to reflect on theoretical, historical and critical issues related to public space and heritage, in the field of Architecture and Urbanism. Subjects of interest are studies in the areas of: a) architectural typology; urban morphology; urban and architectural heritage; urban rehabilitation; preservation guidelines; b) social housing; design processes; occupation and appropriation of collective spaces; modern and contemporary architecture; c) heritage and society, vulnerable groups, the immateriality of built goods, right to the city; d) criticizes, symbolic aspects of materiality and the city, identity processes.<\/p>\n

Comfort, Technology and Sustainability in the City<\/strong><\/p>\n

This theme addresses qualitative and quantitative aspects of thermal, acoustic and lighting comfort in buildings and external spaces and their relationship with user satisfaction and energy efficiency. Also, the area of \u200b\u200bdevelopment of innovative products and processes, related to the different stages of building\u00b4s <\/span>life cycle: conception, design, production, use, operation and maintenance. In addition to the conservation of the built heritage, the study of sustainable materials and construction systems.<\/span><\/p>\n
